Mount Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest free-standing mountain in the world and the iconic landmark of Tanzania. Rising to 5,895 metres, this “Roof of Africa” is a dream destination for adventurers from around the globe. During the climb, you pass through five distinct climate zones, ranging from tropical rainforest to glaciers near the summit. It is a physical challenge, but with the right guidance it is achievable for anyone with a good level of fitness. Reaching the summit rewards you with views you will never forget.

Mount Meru

Mount Meru is the second-highest mountain in Tanzania and a stunning alternative to, or preparation for, Mount Kilimanjaro. Rising to 4,566 metres, it offers a challenging yet less crowded climb. Along the way, you walk through lush forests, with the chance to spot giraffes, buffalo and even elephants. At the summit, breathtaking views await over Arusha National Park and the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. Climbing Mount Meru is a unique combination of adventure, nature and tranquillity.

Did you know that…

  • Mount Kilimanjaro consists of three volcanic cones?
Shira, Mawenzi and Kibo — of which Kibo is still a dormant volcano.

  • The night sky at the summit of Kilimanjaro is exceptionally clear?
Thanks to the thin air and the absence of light pollution, you can see the Milky Way as if you were standing right inside it.

  • Mount Meru is far less crowded than Kilimanjaro?
This makes the climb quieter and more intimate, surrounded by nature.

  • The first successful ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro took place in 1889?
German climber Hans Meyer and Austrian mountaineer Ludwig Purtscheller reached Uhuru Peak.
