walking safari in Arusha National Park

Walk through the foothills of Mount Meru and discover the surprising natural beauty of Arusha National Park up close.

Walking in nature

A walking safari in Arusha National Park is the ideal way to gently begin your safari adventure — or to bring it to a peaceful close. Accompanied by an experienced armed ranger, you explore one of Tanzania’s most diverse parks on foot, with spectacular views of Mount Meru and, on clear days, even Mount Kilimanjaro.

During the walk, you pass through open grasslands, forests and around the Momella Lakes, where you can observe wildlife at close range. Expect encounters with giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, warthogs, colobus monkeys and an impressive variety of birdlife.

Along the way, you learn about animal tracks, plants, ecosystems and wildlife behaviour — an experience that connects you far more deeply with nature than a safari by vehicle.

You can choose between a half-day walk or a full-day walking safari, depending on your interest and fitness level. Both options offer an unforgettable blend of nature, tranquillity and adventure.
